Rainy Sunday Afternoons

Which song would fit this mildly depressing, rainy Sunday afternoon? Firstly, it shouldn't push me further over the edge of emo-ness. Secondly, playing the happiest song you can think of wouldn't really cheer you up....if it does, then you're a freak who looks forward to Mondays and you suck....finished.

So taking all in consideration, the winner of this particular Sunday will be.....(drum role)....Tegan and Sara with The Con......(Applause)

Have a great week!

Happy Days

Every time I see this photo I catch myself grinning. These were some of the best est estest times I can think of.
This is a picture of me and Jeannine Neetling in a costume shop in Arnhem, Netherlands. What you are not seeing is Adina Bosch taking the photo after just getting up from crawling around under a shelf to pick up something she'd dropped.

Sing my precious!

Here's one for the weekend....LOVE LOVE LOVE this song!

Band of the week.....Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros

I was recently introduced to music by Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros and I fell in love with it! This American band has been on the music scene since '09 and their music has been featured in numerous movies and series. The name comes from a book lead singer, Alex Ebert wrote prior to the band about a guy (Edward Sharpe) who "was sent down to Earth to kinda heal and save mankind...but he kept getting distracted by girls and falling in love."

You've gotta' LOVE it!

Dutch Courage

Why do I always reminisce of old times when I know I have to work? I’ll sit in front of the computer for a solid hour before I snap myself out of my day dream. So, now, I’ll post a photo, get some coffee and say goodbye for know.

This picture is one of my favourites from my Dutch exchange album. In this photo are Theresa Beelders and Adina Bosch standing on a street corner in Utrecht. Theresa was very brave to wear just a jersey and she nearly lost her limbs to the cold. Happy times!

A winter lullaby....

It's 01h30 (South African time) on a Wednesday evening / Thursday morning with a very long day ahead. This is probably one of the best songs to listen to if you wish to calm yourself (meant in the best way possible!). Mumford and Sons is definitely one of the fav's!

Good Night!

I love old Shhh Knit!

Vintage is probably the most convenient style to go for since it entails paying about R10 for a pretty neat scarf or two at the Salvation Army. I have always had a thang for going through my gran's old clothes and accessories. The “Vintage”-look, however, is in my opinion one of the most difficult to pull off. Some tend to take the theme a little too far and end up looking like dusty doily-teapot covers.

The trick lies in the old fashion rule...don’t over accessorise! Add one or two “wow” items to your compilation. Never overdo it with too many weird, trendy items. Remember, less is more!

So to get the ideas flowing, here are some images of a winter 2011 collection. It is important to keep in mind that this type of wardrobe doesn’t necessarily have to cost a fortune!

Hope you enjoy!

So apparently I'm a blogger now....

To all friends who have nagged me to start doing this...this first blog is for you. I am sure only a fraction will even read this, but here goes!

I was commissioned to start a blog to entertain those who find it difficult to entertain themselves. Here you will find music clips, fun facts and anything related to (hopefully) improve your day. To kick of the action I will post one of the most amazing tune/music vid I have ever come across. Here is Wood Kid - Iron

Enjoy

Sincerely: Mylanie
